Parodontology

Parodontology is a discipline dealing with the diseases of the supporting tissue around the tooth that has undergone a revolutionary development over the past two decades. Continuous monitoring is of great importance regarding the treatment of patients suffering from periodontal diseases, as periodontal problems can be cured and the non-inflammatory condition can be maintained only with perfect home oral care and regular professional oral hygiene treatment.

What can be considered a periodontal treatment?

The most common gum disease (parodontitis) is the inflammatory disease of the tooth structure (bone, connective tissue, gums). It is caused by the dental plaque, special bacterial flora growing on the surface of the dental stone, and, in certain cases, the genetic tendency.

Inflammatory pockets develop between the tooth roots and gums, which may become deeper as the disease progresses and eventually may lead to the loss of the tooth.

Paradontological treatments

Removal of the plaque under the gum, periodontal pocket therapy:

Inflammation of the parodontium causes the destruction of the bone holding the tooth. Between the tooth and the gum there is a pocket in which the pathogens causing the inflammation of the teeth multiply. If this pocket is cleaned and removed, the inflammation can be eliminated by eliminating the pathogens. This way the destruction of the bone can be stopped and the teeth can be saved.

Splinting a moving tooth:

If the mobility of the teeth reaches the critical level, but the dentist still considers they can be saved, it becomes necessary to fix them, to prevent further movement and the loss of them. During the splinting, a special strip of glass fibre is placed on the inner side or chewing surface of the teeth to be stabilized. This integrates these teeth.

Closed curette treatment:

Besides local anaesthesia, the so-called periodontal pockets (which cause the inflammation) next to the tooth are cleaned with special hand instruments. For this procedure, a laser device is also available in our surgery to further improve the efficiency of the treatment.

Open curette treatment:

It is one of the periodontal surgical interventions. After small incisions are made on the gum, the periodontal pockets are cleaned with direct insight during local anaesthesia, and then the gum is laid back using sutures. Sutures are removed after 10-14 days.

Gums plastic surgery:

It is primarily gum correction for aesthetic purposes that can be used for surgical correction of receded gums (gingival recession). This can happen with using local anaesthesia.

Crown lengthening:

We use crown lengthening only in cases where there is no other solution to save the teeth. The crown lengthening is a surgical procedure used to rescue deeply decayed teeth under the gum line or broken teeth. We use it as a last resort, if our purpose is to keep a tooth that is deeply broken, or its decay spread under the gums, but unfortunately the success is not always guaranteed.

In every case, we make an accurate quotation after the assessment of the condition of the teeth, as so many people, so many cases.
