Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is a dental implant?
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root (usually titanium) that integrates into the jawbone and later supports a crown, bridge, or denture.
What are the advantages of implants?
- Fixed, natural-looking tooth replacement without grinding healthy neighboring teeth
- Stable chewing function and secure speech
- Bone preservation through natural functional loading
What are implants made of?
Dental implants are usually made from biocompatible titanium, which is fully accepted by the human body. Ceramic implants may also be possible in special cases.
How long do I need to stay in Hungary?
For implant surgery, we recommend at least one overnight stay (surgery on Day 1, control examination and soft laser treatment on Day 2). Sutures are usually removed after 7–10 days, or dissolvable sutures can be used.
Warranty & Care
Warranty conditions depend on the materials and dental work provided. Proper oral hygiene, regular check-ups (every 6–12 months), and following all aftercare instructions are essential.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is usually placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia.
Implants are cylindrical or screw-shaped and are available in different diameters and lengths.
During the healing period of approximately 3–4 months, the bone grows around the implant
(osseointegration), creating a stable foundation for the future tooth replacement.
After healing, the final crown is attached to the implant.
In case of tooth loss, implant dentistry offers a highly functional and aesthetic solution:
- Healthy neighboring teeth do not need to be ground down
- Provides a stable and fixed tooth replacement
- Ensures a natural appearance and confident smile
- Maintains full chewing function
- Helps prevent jawbone loss
Dental implants are usually made of body-compatible titanium, which is fully accepted by the human body
and considered biocompatible.
Medical titanium is highly reliable and allergic reactions are extremely rare.
Our oral surgeons work with modern KaVo equipment and advanced sterilization and air purification systems
to ensure the highest possible treatment safety.
Of course, no surgical procedure can ever be completely risk-free, but patients can do a lot to support
successful healing:
- Do not put pressure on the implant during the healing period
- Avoid touching the implant area with the tongue
- Maintain excellent oral hygiene
- Attend regular follow-up appointments
Implant surgery and other oral surgical procedures are performed by highly experienced oral surgeons with
many years of expertise.
Before treatment, a digital panoramic X-ray and a 3D CT scan are taken to determine how many implants are
needed and whether bone augmentation may also be necessary.
After consultation, the implants are placed under local anaesthesia. The jawbone is carefully prepared,
the implant is inserted, and the gum tissue is sutured afterward.
In most cases, implant placement requires only one appointment. The procedure usually takes around
20 minutes per implant and is performed gently on an outpatient basis.
After surgery, we recommend staying one night in Hungary. On the second day, a soft laser treatment is
performed to accelerate healing and support bone regeneration.
Sutures are usually removed after 7–10 days, or dissolvable sutures may be used.
Under normal healing conditions, the implants fully integrate into the bone within 3–6 months.
Afterward, the final crowns can be attached.
Before treatment, patients should eat normally, as implant procedures should not be performed on an empty stomach.
Regular medications can usually continue to be taken as prescribed.
After surgery, the gums may remain sensitive for several days. Cooling the area helps minimize swelling.
Sports activities are generally allowed, but extra caution is recommended to avoid disturbing wound healing.
For approximately one week after surgery, patients should avoid:
- Coffee and tea
- Alcohol
- Milk products
- Smoking
- Spicy foods
Good oral hygiene and careful aftercare are essential. Teeth should be brushed regularly, prescribed medications should be taken as directed, and Chlorhexamed mouth rinse is also recommended.
